“My office has received numerous and evidence of gross mistreatment of Ghanaians pleading for their immediate evacuation from China. As records have shown, Ghanaians living in China are facing tremendous inhuman treatment, discrimination racism, and ejection by the Chinese. As record shows, the Chinese have launched a deliberate effort to dehumanize our fellow Ghanaians by refusing to provide healthcare at their hospitals, refusing to allow them access to essential items like masks or gloves especially in the wake of the deadly pandemic (COVID19)”.

According to Dr. Sam Owusu, Ghanaians in China are being ejected from their homes, and are being refused entry into grocery stores and other facilities. “This racist and clearly dangerous city is exposing many Ghanaians to dangers of COVID-19 and other forms of health issues,” he stated.

The office of the UN eminent peace ambassador in Ghana has, therefore, expressed its sincerest gratitude to the philanthropist who upon hearing the maltreatment of Ghanaian citizens offered to pay for their airlifting back to their Homeland. Most of these people are reported to have arrived in Ghana safely.

“We would like to thank you honorable Kennedy Agyepong and Shirley Ayorko Botchway among other donors for your continued support of the airlifting Ghanaians from China as evidence by your recent donation. Because of your generous donations, we are achieving our missions in bettering the life of Ghanaians living in China facing tremendous inhuman treatment, discrimination, racism, and ejection by the Chinese” the statement added.

The UN Eminent Peace Ambassador also appreciated the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and that of Ghana’s High Commission in China
