President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has praised Ghana’s successful 2024 election as a testament to the nation’s democratic resilience.

Speaking at the commissioning of a new office complex for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on Tuesday, December 17, the president emphasized that the election results have reinforced Ghana’s democratic credentials.

He expressed confidence that the country’s democracy is firmly established and will continue to thrive in the future.

“The successful conduct of the presidential and parliamentary elections on 7 December 2024 stands as a testament to the resilience of our democracy.

“The peaceful nature of the electoral process and the gracious concession of Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate, are powerful reminders that democracy remains the foundation of our progress and national unity.”

John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) made a victorious comeback to the presidency with 56.55 percent of the valid votes (6,328,397 votes), while his primary opponent, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), received 4,657,304 votes.

Despite the conclusion of the presidential race, uncertainty lingers over 12 parliamentary constituencies, where official results are yet to be finalised.
