People in the music industry rejected Gov’t idea of establishing recording studio – Mark Okraku Mantey

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey has disclosed that some persons in the music industry rejected government’s initiative to establish a recording studio for artistes.
Government in its 2020 manifesto promised to establish an ultra-modern recording studio for artistes in the country for musicians be charged a reduced fee after recording sessions.
Fast forward to 2024, four years after the promise, government has not fulfilled the promise.
Speaking at the 3Entertainment Creative Arts forum on Friday, August 30, the Deputy Minister when questioned about the recording studio said “the industry fought against it, it is explicit and it was all over. Some were for, some were against but the against were higher.”
“If the industry shows interest that we should build, why not. The industry rejected and said we should share the money amongst them but they already have studios which were doing well,” he stated.
Mark Okraku Mantey further mentioned Nacee as one of those industry persons who rejected the initiative.
“You can quote me anywhere. Nacee, a few weeks ago was on Hitz FM, he went to Peace FM again and was asked and he said at the time, he supported but he feels that now, we don’t need it.”
