Petition by Concerned Students of Binduri to the District Chief Executive Ayinga Abagre Yakubu
We are by this petition to your office expressing our greatest displeasure on your refusal to approve the tertiary students financial support requested by the Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Robert Kuganab-Lem from his share of the common fund to support students within the district to enhance their education.
Your further justification in the media referring to us as “ghost” even makes the matter worse.
No ghosts can claim any amount from the MP’s share of the common fund as ghost do not talk to living beings. Besides, we will upon collection of the suggested amount be required to present valid proof of identification from the institutions we attend.
To use this claim as a basis, however unfounded it may be is only telling us how insensitive you are to our predicament, it tells us how arbitrary you execute your powers as a District Chief Executive.
We were outraged to hear you on source FM (a radio station in Bawku) further claiming some of us are entitled to only Gh¢150 which is too scanty, a reason you are not bothered to approve the funds that has been released.
Sir, with the greatest of respect, we are not complaining of the amount, if it is too small, why don’t you top it up for us? Our checks shows that all the names you are referring as ghost names are those who applied for the MPs common fund in 2018.
The 2019 applicants can confirm to you that all our members are alive and qualified to receive
financial support from the MP’s share of the common fund.
We are here by demanding the following:
- That you should in 72hrs approve the 2019 students’ financial support as requested by the MP to all the beneficiaries.

That you should render to us an unqualified apology for needlessly delaying the approval of
our fair share without justified reasons.
- That you should have known and respect the fact that we are constituents of Binduri, all of us are students, and legitimate ones to be specific and do not understand why our own brother, father and uncle chose to treat us this way.
We wish to let you and that of the general public know that our checks from the MP indicates that, the delay is coming from you, because the member of Parliament has given us a copy of a letter dated, 23rd December, 2019 requesting you to approve the funds for disbursement, it is five good months now and no approval or any reasonable information from you sir.
We would want to believe that, you were appointed to serve the people, so if indeed there were any challenges with regards to any of the beneficiaries our contact numbers are boldly written on our application letters and you could have called to notify us to come for corrections in order to speed up the process for the disbursement of the funds. You failed to apply leadership in this whole brouhaha.
It will interest you to know that our parents/guardians are not happy with this development.
Sir, we respectfully request immediate approval of the funds for disbarment to the students.
We have several options to execute including staging a demonstration if you refuse to listen to us.
