Philanthropist donates to support 2 Schools and a CHPS Compound
According to him, he decided to support the staff and pupils of the two schools as his little contribution towards teaching and learning in the two sister municipalities.
A United States-based philanthropist, Moussa Touh, also known as Prince Wadada Nlassindi, has through his NGO, Africodia Foundation donated assorted books worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to support the Umar Bun Hatab Islamic Basic School and Amrahia Admah Junior High School (JHS) both in the Madina and Adentan Municipalities respectively.
According to him, he decided to support the staff and pupils of the two schools as his little contribution towards teaching and learning in the two sister municipalities.
Presenting the books to the schools at separate functions, the US-based philanthropist re-echoed the need for individuals to support schools and other public institutions in their localities as a way of complementing what the central government is doing.
According to him government alone cannot provide everything the communities need thus the need for individuals, faith-based organizations, and Non-Governmental Organisations to come to the aid of the vulnerable in the society.
For instance many of the public basic schools in the Madina and Adentan Municipalities all in the Greater Accra Region visited are without library rooms due to limited infrastructure facilities. Most of these schools even though are support by the Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC), its books are stored in containers that serve as a makeshift library facility, school authorities tell us the books are limited.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Adentan Constituency who received the books on behalf Amrahea Admah JHS underscore the need for a conscious effort by the government and all stakeholders to ensuring that public basic schools have the needed facilities for effective teaching and learning.
This he said is the best way to providing quality education but not just making it free.
The Adentan lawmaker, handing over the books donated to the management of the school believe successive governments have not made a conscious effort to deliver the holistic educational infrastructure needed to attain academic excellence in the public schools.
In another development Africodia Foundation, before the presentation of books to the two schools also presented some medical equipment and assorted items to Anyaboni CHPS Compound in the Eastern Region.
