Philanthropist Renovates Agbozume-Sukladzi R.C Basic School Kindergarten Block

A philanthropist and Ghana’s former Ambassador to Denmark, H.E Maureen Abla Amematekpor with support from her children, has renovated a 3-unit kindergarten block for Agbozume-Sukladzi R.C Basic School in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region.

At a brief ceremony to officially hand over the renovated classroom to the school authorities, H.E Amematekpor in a short address on her behalf by Mr. Francis Katako, said she had always cherished kindergarten education as it was the foundation of all educational systems.

This according to the former Ambassador, sparked the zeal in her to adopt the school and embark on the project, when the headmaster of the School approached her to assist in the renovation of the deplorable Kindergarten block built by her late husband, the Hon. Tommy Amematekpor several years ago in a bid to create a conducive teaching and learning environment for the kindergarten pupils.

She added that renovating the school was to preserve the legacy of her late husband who championed a lot of developmental projects within Agbozume and it’s environs including adopting Agbozume -Sukladzi Basic School to advance academic activities, emphasizing the need to prioritize kindergarten education to build a strong foundation for Ghana’s future leaders, pledging her family’s resolve to continue to invest in educational infrastructure in the enclave.

Headmaster of the school, Mr. George Atisu expressed gratitude on behalf of the school’s management, staff and the pupils for the gesture and for the timely response to to the call to have the block renovated, promising that the building will be properly taken care of to extend its life span and to serve its intended purpose.

The Schools Improvement Support Officer (SISO) of the Ketu Municipal Education Directorate, Mr. Kutu Sylvester also thanked the Ambassador and her children for understanding the relevance of education by extending this philanthropic support to the school and the Agbozume-Sukladzi Community at large.

He urged them to continue extending this support to the school to augment its infrastructure deficits which included a Library, Science Laboratory, ICT Laboratory, Modern Teachers’ Staff Common Room, Modern Toilet facility, Renovation of classrooms floors, Provision of pupils desks, Projectors as well as Teachers Tables and Chairs

He also thanked benefactors for coming to the aid of the school, saying “this assistance could not have come at a better time, as there were several infrastructure needs in the school which the PTA cannot afford.

He appealed to other well-meaning individuals to also assist the school in addressing the infrastructure shortfalls in order to improve upon teaching and learning outcomes.

The Kindergarten block was renovated at the cost of Seventy Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 75,000.00 ) which involved re-roofing, extension, floor work and painting.
