The Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Congress Committee, Hon. Alhassan Azong, has clarified recent activities attributed to the party’s Disciplinary Committee. In a press release on Thursday, Hon. Azong emphasized that the Disciplinary Committee, though duly constituted, was not mandated by the National Executive Committee (NEC) to investigate any issue or take disciplinary actions at this time.

He emphasized that any decisions or actions taken by the Disciplinary Committee without an official mandate from the NEC are unauthorized and go beyond the committee’s powers. This clarification follows recent reports suggesting that certain candidates, including prominent party figure Bernard Mornah, had been disqualified ahead of the 2024 PNC Presidential elections.

He called for party members to remain focused and united as they prepare for the upcoming elections, reiterating that the party’s internal processes are intact, and no unilateral actions taken outside the NEC’s authority would affect the electoral schedule.

To this effect, the PNC’s 2024 Presidential Candidate election remains on course, with all eligible candidates participating as planned.

This statement is expected to calm rising concerns within the party ranks as election day draws near. The PNC leadership is focused on ensuring a transparent and fair election process as they work to unify the party ahead of the 2024 general elections.
