The People’s National Party (PNP) has voiced deep concern over Ghana’s current state, citing soaring prices, mothers struggling, and environmental harm from illegal mining. The party reaffirmed that, despite these challenges, the two major parties in the country, the NPP and NDC, remain entangled in minor disputes, neglecting key issues bothering citizens.

In a statement released on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the PNP criticised the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) government, stating, “The NPP’s majority has not benefited everyday Ghanaians, failing to lower prices of goods and services.” The party highlighted the struggles of new mothers who cannot afford baby food, while the government neglects the illegal mining crisis.

The PNP party also slammed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for prioritising a reduction in betting taxes, which many Ghanaians see as tone-deaf, advocating instead for a ban on betting to promote meaningful livelihoods for youth.

The party further emphasised that women and children suffer most in times of turmoil, hence urging the NDC to call its members to order and allow the rule of law to prevail. They also advised the NPP to resolve internal conflicts without involving the Supreme Court.

The PNP party in their address concluded with a strong message as they outlined that Ghanaians are seeking tangible solutions to pressing issues and not debates over parliamentary leadership.
