Pokuase Allodial Land Owners Spit fire at the NPP Government

History on Land

According to the group, the Land in question measures 532.749 acres and situated at Pokuase. They maintained that it was acquired in 1947 by the Government then for Pig Farming.

However, due to alleged influx of tsetseflies, it could not serve that purpose. All the same the land was used for the experimentation of Agricultural purposes such as seed improvement animal research and animal husbandry by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), hence the name, “Agric Land”

Land Agreement Elapses

According to them, after 75years, the agreement between them and government has elapsed, as their predecessor say that the said land was acquired by government for 50 years. Naturally in line with common since Law, the Land should be reverted to the allodial land owners.

In the line with this, they have written several letters to government in this regard with less attention and response.

Is NPP on Land-grabbing spree?

The group maintained that as they impatiently awaited positive response from government, they only see some estate developers scouting the said land when successive government, including the immediate past NDC did not maneuver to take over the said land.

They wondered if the NPP was the only eagle-eyed party to scout their land from afar to give it out to their people for the construction of so called affordable houses.

On his part Nii Okpei Larbi Nkwantabisa, Dzaasatse of Pokuase wondered how the so called affordable Houses could be built on expensive lands as at Pokuase, where one plot of land cost more than 3000 Ghana Cedis.

What we want Government to know

The angry allodial land owners intimated to the NPP Government that they are not a launch of daft people to be manipulated by anybody on any subject matter.

Subsequently, with their legal brains, they were going to resist any attempt by anybody to deprive them of their bonafide Property like the “Agric Land”.

They sated that they will resort to all means legal to get their allodial land via Press Conferences, correspondence, demonstrations and voting (Kokromote) Power.

According to them, with the first two Options, correspondence and press Conferences, seemingly lost, the will resort to the remaining two-demonstration and voting (Kokromote) Power , by mobilizing and organizing their voting populace to vote against the NPP, come 2024.They were however quick to appeal to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to look into the matter, as it might have happened to his blind side.

The Press Conference was preceded and ended with the chanting of war songs as well as the pouring of libation by priestess before and after the Conference; with members wearing red, black attire with red bands

They later moved to the land to hoist red bands and also further poured of libation there.

ACP Land not Entrusted to Anyone

In a related Press release from Nii Dodoo Clottey Family of Pokuase, it stated that the ACP land at Pokuase has not been entrusted to anybody for any purpose.

“We have also gathered that some unscrupulous individuals are going about claiming that the ACP land at Pokuase has been entrusted to them to sell and account to the Dodoo Clottey Family at Pokuase.

We wish to state categorically here that no such decision has been taken, let alone being implemented to such extent. By this, we wish to inform the General Public that who soeverdeals with anyone in this regard, does at his/her own peril. Whoever has interest in the said land should contact the Land Secretariat which is situated at the Pokuase for any land transaction. The release stated.

Amasaman School Park belongs to Pokuase

The release further stated that the Amasaman School Park belongs Pokuase. Therefore, the attempt being made by the MCE for Ga west, Wilkinson to arrogate to himself the power to drive away traders on the said land is not proper.

While stressing that the land belongs to Pokuase, they maintained that Nii Amansa has no Land and whoever wants to deal inland issues there, should come to the secretariat at Pokuase Palace.
