Police arrests 3 Tanzanian carjackers in Accra

Luck eluded three Tanzanian nationals after they were caught breaking into vehicles at a car park in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

The incident happened on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at about 12pm at the Palace Mall, police say.

One of the suspects, Haji Yusuf named his two accomplices as Cassian Pascal and Ruderick Benedict, who lived at East Legon —where they were arrested.

According to the Police, the three suspects operate by intercepting the car lock remote of their victims with remote jammers.

Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Fredrick Adu Anim said the three were arrested after a period of monitoring of criminal activities by the Command.

“The Command has arrested three Tanzanians. During the middle part of 2019, the Airport Police Command per its crime statistics recorded a number of break-ins into vehicles. The Command was put under surveillance to clamp down on such activities”, said DCOP Anim.

It is gathered that the three will soon be arraigned before a court in the coming days.
