The Achimota District Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of 29-year-old Karen Baaba Sam for allegedly unlawfully keeping her four-and-a-half-year-old daughter, defying court orders.
The police have declared Ms. Sam wanted and are actively pursuing leads to locate her. The arrest warrant aims to assist the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in its investigation into allegations of unlawful child removal.

In April 2024, Mr. Adjei filed a case at the Juvenile Court, citing concerns about Ms. Sam’s behavior between 2021 and 2022. While the court granted the father temporary custody and permitted Ms. Sam visitation rights, the dispute remains unresolved as the court is yet to determine permanent custody.
Travel Restrictions
Following the ongoing custody dispute, a Juvenile Court in Accra directed the CID Commander to prevent Ms. Sam from leaving the country with the child.
Additionally, the court ordered the Director-General of the Ghana Immigration Service to enforce this restriction.

In February 2024, while Mr. Adjei was abroad for medical treatment, Ms. Sam sought permission to take the child on a trip to a beach resort, which he approved.
He reportedly transferred GH¢50,000 to fund the trip. Upon his return, Mr. Adjei claimed the child disclosed that Ms. Sam had previously visited the same resort with another man.
The court later directed the Department of Social Welfare to assist in retrieving the child from Ms. Sam.
Legal Proceedings
The warrant for Ms. Sam’s arrest was issued by the court, presided over by Ms. Bernice Mensimah Ackon.
Authorities have urged the public to assist with information that could lead to her apprehension.
