Police Go After NPP and NDC Supporters in Mamobi Clash

Seven of the injured victims were treated and discharged on the same day while two are still receiving treatment at the hospital, the police disclosed in their statement.

The Ghana Police Service says efforts are underway to get supporters of the two main political parties in the country who were involved in the clash at Mamobi in the Greater Accra Region arrested.

It said it is currently trying to identify the perpetrators who were captured on camera to effect their arrests.

“An intelligence-led operation is currently ongoing to get the perpetrators who have been identified by the Police arrested to face justice,” it said in a press statement.

Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) engaged in a violent confrontation on Sunday, October 13, 2024, while both were undertaking campaign walks in the area.

This resulted in the firing of gun and fisticuffs that ended in injuries to nine persons.

Meanwhile, calm has since been restored in the area.

“The Ghana Police Service has restored calm at Mamobi, a suburb of Accra, following disturbances between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area that resulted in the injuries of nine persons.”
