In a daring operation, the Assin Fosu District Police Command arrested Isaac Akwasi Agyei, a 38-year-old man, for impersonating an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) staff member and defrauding customers in the Assin South District in the Central Region.

The suspect, Agyei’s modus operandi involved wearing ECG attire and targeting customers in Assin Kwafo-krom and Appiah-krom communities, claiming to be a disconnection officer for revenue mobilization.

He demanded Gh¢50 from customers with outstanding debts above Gh¢200.00, threatening disconnection if payment was not made.

In some cases, Agyei took it a step further by removing service wires from meters and accepting alternative forms of payment from customers who couldn’t afford to pay.
