Police puts farmer who threatens to kill mother before court

Prosecuting Police Detective Inspector Joseph Kwadwo Agyare told the court presided over by Mr Eric Baah Boateng, that the complainant, Madam Dorcas Yeboah, a farmer resides in the same house at Camp “4” in the Aowin Municipality as Ofori who is her son.

A farmer who allegedly threatened his 47-year-old mother, with death has been remanded into police custody by the Enchi District Magistrate court.

The accused, Enoch Ofori, 23, plea has not been taken would make his next appearance on Thursday July 7, 2022.

Prosecuting Police Detective Inspector Joseph Kwadwo Agyare told the court presided over by Mr Eric Baah Boateng, that the complainant, Madam Dorcas Yeboah, a farmer resides in the same house at Camp “4” in the Aowin Municipality as Ofori who is her son.

He said in 2020 the complainant’s sister-in-law gave her local fowls to rear while, the accused friends John Ndaah and Osono also gave him some local fowls to rear.

The Prosecutor said on February 9, 2022, the complainant returned from her hometown only to detect that Ofori had sold and slaughtered some of the fowls including Hers.

Detective Inspector Agyare said the complainant decided to send the remaining fowls to her sister-in-law, while she was making the necessary arrangements, Ndaah also came demanding his share from the accused person.

He said the accused in the process decided to send some of the complainant’s fowls to Ndaah but she disagreed, and this provoked Ofori.

On June 13, 2022, at about 1630 hours the accused person threatened the complainant with words to wit “l will kill you and kill myself, l will set our house ablaze and put poisonous substance in our drinking water”.

The prosecutor informed the court that the complainant, who felt her life was in danger, reported the matter to the unit committee members of Camp “4” and they arrested Ofori and handed him over to the Enchi police to assist with investigations.

Detective Inspector Agyare noted that the accused person in his investigation caution statement denied the offence.
