Police Reopen Roads after “Special Operations”
Some roads that were affected by the operation included those linking to Independence Avenue, the Liberation Road and more with the police instituting alternative routes for motorists.
All roads closed by the police as part of what they called “Police Special Operations” that started on Saturday, September 21, 2024, have been opened.
It follows the end of the Democracy Hub demonstration on Monday, September 23.

In a notice on Monday evening, the police announced the opening of the roads.
“The Ghana Police Service wishes to inform the general public that at 6 pm today, September 23, 2024, the police opened all the roads that were closed to traffic as part of the Police Special Operations within Accra.”
The police used the occasion to express its appreciation to the public for their cooperation with the situation as it assured of its continuous commitment to security, law and order.
“We would like to sincerely thank the members of the general public, especially the commuting public for their patience and cooperation throughout the period of the exercise.”
