Power & Energy Ghana Expo 2024 Launched
During the launch, Project Director Thomas James highlighted the importance of gathering suppliers, manufacturers, and investors in Ghana under one roof to address the country's power and energy supply challenges.
The Power and Energy Ghana Expo 2024 has been officially launched in Accra, set to showcase the latest power and energy technologies, as well as electrical products. The event will be held at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC), a top venue for large-scale business events due to its prime location near Kotoka International Airport and proximity to luxury hotels.
The three-day international exhibition, scheduled for November 6–8, 2024, is expected to attract over 100 exhibitors and more than 4,000 professional visitors from across the globe. The expo will bring together manufacturers, exporters, wholesalers, dealers, and distributors in the power and electrical engineering sectors. Featured products and technologies will include transformers, wires, solar panels, batteries, inverters, and generators.
Ghana has made notable strides in increasing electricity generation and access over the past decade, contributing to substantial economic growth. However, challenges such as inefficiencies and losses in the energy sector persist, including significant distribution losses and rising electricity tariffs. Approximately 25% of electricity generated in Ghana is lost at the retail level, largely due to aging infrastructure and commercial losses.
During the launch, Project Director Thomas James highlighted the importance of gathering suppliers, manufacturers, and investors in Ghana under one roof to address the country’s power and energy supply challenges. He emphasized that the expo aims to foster the development of a more robust power sector.
The President of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Dr. Joseph Obeng, added that the event has been crucial for traders and importers, providing valuable insights into new innovations, technologies, and products in the energy and power sectors.
