Power & Energy Ghana Expo 2024 Launched in Accra

The Power & Energy Ghana Expo 2024 was launched in Accra to showcase the latest advancements in power and energy technologies, as well as electrical products. Scheduled for November 6–8, 2023, this three-day international exhibition is expected to attract over 100 exhibitors and 400 participants from around the world. It marks the third event of its kind in Ghana, organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The expo brings together a wide array of stakeholders, including manufacturers, exporters, wholesalers, dealers, and distributors of power and electrical energy equipment. Exhibits will feature products such as transformers, wires, solar panels, batteries, inverters, and generators, providing a comprehensive look at innovations in the sector.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Energy, Chief Director Wilhelmina Asamoah expressed Ghana’s pride in hosting more than 100 exhibitors and 1,000 professionals. She noted that their presence would significantly contribute to the development of Ghana and West Africa’s energy sector. She also urged the organizers to collaborate with local manufacturers to strengthen Ghana’s electrical sector.

British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, highlighted her office’s partnership with Ghanaian organizations to advance the EV battery charging network. She described this initiative as a step toward reliable, clean energy that will support small businesses dependent on power generators, while also reducing fossil fuel use in the country.

India’s High Commissioner, Mr. Manish Gupta, emphasized that the energy sector is central to Ghana’s development agenda, attracting investment to boost the economy. He noted that India, as the world’s third-largest producer of energy products, has made significant investments in the sector, setting a model for Ghana’s own progress. He called for greater collaboration between the two countries in the energy sector.

Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) President, Mr. Joseph Obeng, highlighted the expo’s value to traders and importers, as it provides access to information on new technologies, products, and innovations in the energy and power sectors.

The Project Director, Mr. Thomas James, welcomed participants and exhibitors to the third Power & Energy Expo, encouraging Ghanaian businesses to make the most of the event. He stated that the exhibition aims to address Ghana’s power and energy supply challenges, building a more robust demand-driven power sector.
