Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency, has strongly refuted a viral video circulating on social media. The video claims that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, during the first anniversary of the overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Soale Biikunuto Jewu Soale I, ordered the Gonja King to stand up to exchange pleasantries.

The Damongo constituency MP in an interview with the media to respond to the allegations for the first time emphasized that the allegations are untrue and misleading, suggesting that those behind the video are attempting to manipulate public opinion for political gain as the elections approach. He urged voters and the broader public to critically assess the sources of such information and not to be swayed by false narratives aimed at influencing the electoral process.

He explained further how the President’s entourage took turns to greet the Yagbonwura only for the unfortunate video to pop up.

He reminded the people of Gonjaland that, coming from a royal lineage, he understands the implications of disrespecting a chief in the kingdom.

On his relationship with former President John Mahama, the MP indicated that he shares a familial connection with the NDC flagbearer and suggested that attempts to portray a strained relationship between them were part of a deliberate effort by some individuals to serve their own political interests.

He reminded his constituents that he’s focused on promoting development not only in his own constituency but across Gonjaland, emphasizing that the new region has much work to do in terms of infrastructure, including electricity, water, roads, and education.

He further stated that he’s not bothered by the negative comments from his critics, affirming that his only focus is on development and nothing else.
