President to settle Special Prosecutor

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed his Chief of Staff, Frema Osei-Opare to settle all benefits due the immediate past Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu upon his resignation.

In a statement released by the Office of the Presidency today Tuesday, November 17, 2020, it stated that President Akufo-Addo has accepted the resignation of the Special Prosecutor and has taken due note of the other matters raised in his letter.

The Special Prosecutor on Monday, November 16, 2020 sent a letter to the president announcing his resignation from office. Among others, he raised the issue of not receiving any pay since he was appointed by the President.

The statement also noted that the presidency is yet to release a detailed response following Mr. Amidu’s resignation from office.
