President’s sister denies meddling in Akwamu Chieftaincy issues

A Ghanaian acclaimed contemporary artist, Marigold Akufo-Addo has refuted allegations of of initiating any proceedings, be it judicial or otherwise to destool any person either in Akwamu or Akwamufie.

She said the decision to destool the queen mother of Bekai was based on her actions which was deemed to be disrespectful and was reported to the queen-mother of Akwamu.

Her reaction came after she was accused of masterminding the destoolment of the Queen-mother, Nana Asaa Safoa II, known in her private life as Mrs. Adelaide Duncan Olabaju.

In a Press Statement, Marigold Akufo-Addo who is a sister of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, said following her continuous disrespect to the family, the whole Bekai family consisting of the family in Abomuso, Kyebi, Keanu, Akropong, Akwamufie, Anum and Anlo performed the required traditional customs to destool her as queenmother of the Bekai stool of Akwamufie.

Madam Marigold said she is not a candidate for queen mother or any other traditional office.

Madam Marigold further stated that she has not organized any persons to create confusion or perpetuate violence in Akwamufie.
