Primary Science Teacher in Shai Osudoku District Provided With Hands-on Teacher Resource Manuals, Free Training
The initiative was officially launched with a courtesy visit to the Ghana Education Service Shai Osudoku District office on February 26, 2023.
In a significant stride towards enhancing science education, all primary science teachers in the Shai Osudoku district have been provided with hands-on teacher resource manuals and received free training sessions.
This milestone was made possible through the generous support of the Rotary Clubs of Colorado Springs and Accra West, enabling Practical Education Network (PEN) to elevate the quality of science education in the Greater Accra Region.
From February 26th to 29th, a total of 380 Lower and Upper Primary Science teachers from all public schools across the Shai Osudoku District participated in PEN’s Hands-On Science teacher mini-training program.
These sessions equipped teachers with vital hands-on science teaching techniques, empowering them to engage and educate students more practically and enjoyably.
Each teacher also received a copy of the PEN Hands-On Science Teacher Resource manual to aid the integration of hands-on teaching methods in their classrooms.
The initiative was officially launched with a courtesy visit to the Ghana Education Service Shai Osudoku District office on February 26, 2023.
The manuals were then handed over to over 100 basic school science teachers at GHANATA School, marking the commencement of the program.
Madam Harriet Lomotey, District Education Director, expressed her gratitude for the donations and pledged full support to ensure the success of the program in the district.
Emphasising the importance of making science practical and enjoyable, she highlighted its role in encouraging more students to pursue the subject further and contribute to the community and national development.
Speaking on behalf of the Rotary Clubs, Vice President Madam Violet Anna Osei, reiterated Rotary’s commitment to service, particularly in education.
She encouraged teachers to make the most of the partnership with PEN and remain open-minded during the training sessions, emphasizing the need to adapt teaching styles to meet the demands of the 21st century.
This collaborative effort reflects a shared commitment to empowering educators and enriching the educational experience for students in the Shai Osudoku district.
