The Ghana Police Service has debunked a news item to the effect that a militia group is camping and training in Kwahu in the Eastern Region in preparation for the 2024 General Elections.

“The Ghana Police Service, through its proactive media monitoring, has noted a publication alleging the training of some militiamen at Kwahu in the Eastern Region, for the 2024 general elections. We wish to state that our investigation has found no evidence of such training in the area.”

In the meantime, the Police have put in place measures to unmask the persons behind the publication and put them before the law.

“The Police have commenced investigation to identify those behind the false publication to come and answer for their actions in line with the due process of the law.”

It also warned against the publication and dissemination of fake news.
