A Non- governmental Organization (NGO), RAK Daily Bread Foundation has donated assorted stationery and other items to school children of Bomigo Basic School in the Keta Municipality of the Volta region.

The items valued at GH¢ 40, 000.00 were the NGO’s way of putting smiles on the faces of the school kids in memory of their late cherished school teacher, Raphael Adzakey Kwame, affectionately called by his pupils as RAK, a teacher from Aflao who sacrificed his comfort to impart knowledge to school kids in remote and hard to reach villages.

RAK’s first station was Bomigo where he was posted in the early ’60s and as such the NGO led by his son, Reuben Adzakey decided to continue his legacy by donating to the school kids at Bomigo a village that stretches beyond two rivers with no connection to the national electrification grid.

In his opening remarks at a brief presentation event, Chief of Bomigo Torgbi Akude II, commended RAK Daily Bread Foundation for the gesture which he described as unprecedented, adding that the village had never witnessed such a kind gesture from any of the teachers who had taught in their school in several decades, reminding the NGO of the many challenges facing the school and the village and appealed for further assistance to mitigate against such challenges in the coming years.

A teacher of the school, Fred Duwoke who received the items on behalf of the children, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for remembering the school kids and eulogized the late Raphael Adzakey Kwame for his thoughtfulness in reaching out to the village back in the day and called on other teachers and well-meaning individuals to emulate such shining and remarkable examples.

He further encouraged the pupils not to look at their present circumstances and give up on themselves and their studies, advising them to learn hard to become agents of change in their community as well as contribute meaningfully to nation-building.

He promised on behalf of the NGO, to institute a scholarship scheme to assist brilliant but needy students to pursue further studies.

Executive Secretary of RAK Daily Bread Foundation, Wisdom Adzakey advised the management of the school to ensure equitable distribution of the items to serve their intended purpose.

RAK Daily Bread Foundation was established with the main purpose of helping children in deprived communities within the Volta region with their educational needs which is necessary for the children to thrive academically in this age of globalization.

Bomigo is a small farming and fishing community sandwiched between two rivers in the Keta Municipality of the Volta region.

The village has been on the receiving end of perennial tidal waves that wreak havoc on the residents, displacing hundreds and destroying property, further adversely affecting academic activities in the area.
