Reasons Bishop Obinim would be re-appearing in court – CID explains 

Head Pastor of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Kwadwo Obinim is to re-appear before an Accra Magistrate Court on June 1, 2020, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has said.

A statement issued in Accra late Tuesday signed by Head of Public Affairs for the CID, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Juliana Obeng confirmed the arrest of suspect Bishop Daniel Obinim on Tuesday May 19, 2020 but granted bail to re-appear before the court.

“Bishop Obinim was sent to Magistrate Court, Accra and has been granted bail to the sum of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵100,000.00) with three (3) sureties, one person to be justified and to re-appear before court on June 1, 2020,” the CID said it the statement.

The Police CID, effected the arrest of Bishop Obinim on Warrant of Arrest issued by the Court. According to the CID, “He has been charged with the offences of publication of fake news and forgery of document contrary to sections 208 and 159 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960, (Act 29) respectively.

The suspect is also under investigation for other offences levelled against him.”

The police further entreated the general public to disregard a video circulating on social media on the arrest of Bishop Obinim. The CID say the video has no releation with the suspect’s arrest on Tuesday.
