The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have attributed the recent power outages to limited gas supplies from the Ghana National Gas Company’s (Ghana Gas) processing plant at Atuabo.

In a joint press statement issued on Tuesday, GRIDCo and ECG explained that the restricted supply of gas has led to “intermittent interruptions” in power for some customers.

The statement highlighted the direct connection between the gas shortage and the recent power instability, which has been felt in several parts of the country.

“Engineers at GNCC are currently working to resolve the issue and restore full supply of gas,” the statement said.

Further, GRIDCo and ECG pledged to continue monitoring the situation closely, “which is expected to normalise once the issue at the plant is addressed.”
