Western Togoland simply needs to close its formal borders to Ghana. It is simply out of respect that its Freedom Fighters are engaging you their chiefs and Ghana. But what they got in return? Every day for the thief, one day for the master.

election2024

I find it extremely nauseating that a paramout Chief would speak this way, particularly coming from Volta Region, a huge part of Western Togoland, that at their end-of-year meeting, he would not address the call to them on April 19, 2024, to assist the Ghana government under Akufo-Addo, to find lasting and peaceful solution to the Western Togoland separation issue! What does he mean by there has been no secessionist activities (formal withdrawal from a federation or political union)? When did Western Togoland become a FORMAL PART OF THE GOLD COAST/GHANA?

Togbe as a seniour lawyer, we challenge you to provide the evidence. Also as a seniorlawyer, I hope you know not only had the condition of the 1956 plebiscite not been fulfilled but also that its terms were NEVER legally carried out.

Further, as a senior lawyer which you pride yourself to be, I hope you are aware that barely 2 months after that plebiscite, Gold Coasters in July voted AGAINST GOLD COAST BECOMING A FEDERATION OR POLITICAL UNION, THUS VOIDING THE TOGOLAND PLEBISCITE before it could go through the RATIFICATION PROCESSS. AND THAT WAS WHY NKRUMAH HAD TO USE BRUTE FORCE TO ARMED-ROB IT AND INTEGRATE IT INTO HIS GOLD COAST/GHANA.

So Togbe, it is LEGALLY INCORRECT to associate secession to Western Togoland Restoration to its nationhood as per the UN RESOLUTION 1044(XI) of December 13, 1956. There was no formal union with Ghana, hence there need not be a FORMAL WITHDRAWAL (SECESSION.

Western Togoland simply needs to close its formal borders to Ghana. It is simply out of respect that its Freedom Fighters are engaging you their chiefs and Ghana. But what they got in return? Every day for the thief, one day for the master.
