Residents of Kpone Protest Over Abandoned Road Construction

A group of frustrated residents and business owners along the Kpone to Dawhenya road have taken to the streets to demand action from the Ministry for Roads and Highways.

The demonstration, led by Frana Abay-Wuni, is a response to the halt in construction work on the 17-kilometer road project, which was inaugurated by the president four years ago.

The protesters claim that the deplorable condition of the road is not only affecting their businesses but also their health and psychological well-being.

They lament that the contractors have abandoned the site, leaving them to suffer through hours of traffic congestion daily.

“We spend up to six hours in traffic, and our children are sleeping in vehicles on their way to school. Unfortunately, we lost a former MP who was trying to rush to the hospital but couldn’t due to the traffic,” said Abay-Wuni.

The residents are demanding a clear explanation for the halt in construction work and immediate action to address the situation. They have threatened to stage further protests if their demands are not met.

The situation has sparked outrage and frustration among the community, who feel neglected by the government.

The protesters are calling for the Minister to take responsibility and ensure the completion of the project to alleviate their suffering.
