Road diversions announced ahead of mammoth NDC-NPP rallies on Thursday

The Ghana Police Service has announced traffic management measures ahead of two major rallies by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) scheduled for Thursday, December 14.

The NDC rally will take place at Zurak Park in Madina, while the NPP will hold its version at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.

For NPP supporters, those traveling from Adenta will be redirected to take a left at Ritz Junction, passing through Aviation and UPSA before arriving at Okponglo to access Legon. Supporters coming from Dome will be routed through Haatso Junction toward GIMPA and onward to the University of Ghana.
For NDC supporters, those arriving from the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange will take a right at Shiashie, proceed toward UPSA, and turn left to join the Madina main road.

Supporters traveling from Dome will be redirected to take a left at the KFC Junction on the Haatso Road, continue toward Wisconsin University, and proceed to Zongo Junction.
In addition, there will be a roadblock in front of the NDC rally venue in Madina to control traffic flow. Police officers will be stationed along key routes to assist road users and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
The police have urged both parties’ leadership to ensure that their supporters maintain discipline and avoid activities that could lead to disturbances. A spokesperson emphasized that the safety of the general public remains their top priority and encouraged cooperation with law enforcement.
These measures aim to minimize inconvenience to road users and ensure peaceful rallies for both parties. The public is advised to follow the directives and plan their movements accordingly.
