It was an exciting moment for children living in the Otano and Agba Kope Communities in the Adgiringanor area near Trassaco on October 15 and 16, 2021 respectively when the Rotary Club of Accra Adjiringanor enrolled some 500 underprivileged children into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The project, which is one of many projects to be undertaken by the Club, was meant to give opportunity to the children who have not been registered for any Health Care Services to have the opportunity to freely access health care and live a dignified life.

It is noteworthy that without this free registration exercise these children would not have the means and the logistics to register for the needed Healthcare Service. As we know, diseases such as malaria and Covid-19 are no respecters of persons. Therefore this registration will help save the lives of these children when they are sick. Many of the teenage mothers whose children benefited from the exercise were very grateful to the Rotary Club of Accra-Adjiringanor and asked the club to continue to extend Humanitarian Services to them and their children so that they can raise healthy children who would become responsible adults.

President of the Rotary Club of Accra Adjiringanor, RP Henry Morgan Minski, who addressed the parents and children in the communities prior to the commencement of the project assured them of the love and support the Rotary Club wants to provide to all children in the community, especially those who cannot afford access to Health Care.

He reminded them of the support the club provided their communities during the covid-19 period and re assured them that until they see a world where all children have access to health care and can live a dignified live, the club will continue in its work of service above self and remain committed and united with other partners to bring hope to the less privileged, the marginalized, the disadvantaged, the needy and the poor.

He called on all Ghanaians to do good in the world particularly in their communities. The 19 Rotarians from Accra Adjiringanor were seen registering the children and providing sweets to all who were able to complete the process and take their cards. The children were very happy in taking the photos and getting the cards from the Rotarians.

The Rotary Club was grateful particularly to the former Assembly member for the area, Mr Lawer who spent considerable time to follow up on this project as well as the delegates of this year’s face of High School who on all 2 days provided volunteer services to the project.

Members of the the club say they look forward to providing access to health care insurance to all children in the Adgiringanor community and its environs. The club will be distributing free wheel chairs to the some persons living with disability later this month; including Orphans in a deprived orphanage. They would provide access to educational materials to children in the community in November and December this year.
