“Because most of our leaders are behind the illegal mining activity locally referred to as galamsey, they don’t want us to wage war against the menace. But for the love we have for our community, we the youth have decided to use every means possible to protect our land”, a youth leader in Sabronum, Gideon Adu Boahen warned after submitting the petition.

After conducting his investigation, the Asantehene on Monday August 26 ruled that, the three traditional leaders who have been entrusted with the task of taking care of Sabronum in the absence of a chief, be de-stooled.

The decision was received with excitement by the residents as they want an end to the illegal activity.

“This is a welcoming news. Our goal is just to see a permanent end to this illegal mining activity that is making life unbearable for us”, one of the youth leaders in Sabronum, Akwasi Boakye indicated.
