– For Pursuing Development Agenda
The Honorable Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bodi constituency in the Western North Region, Sampson Ahi, has presented Science and Lab equipment worth GH¢35,000 to his brainchild school, Bodi Senior High School (BOSEC).
Meant for the Physics, Chemistry and Biology classes, the equipment is to facilitate practicals of the students in their impending West Africa Senior High School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
Presenting the equipment, Ahi stated that on his visit to the school recently, the Headmaster, Pastor Dr. Ken Obeng, told him that the students were about to write their final exams in the WASSCE, but lacked the needed science equipment for their practicals. He said moved by this, he quickly mobilized to get them this equipment to enable them to write and pass their examination with excellence.
According to him, it is his fervent prayer that any student who touches this equipment would excel in his/her examination.
Commenting on their school anthem which they sang before the presentation, the MP described it as Patriotic and commended the composer of the anthem, which he said he was hearing for the first time. He charged the students to adhere themselves to that part of the song that” The Sky is their limit” and subsequently learn hard to achieve that feat.
Hon. Ahi, whose presence and presentation was greeted with cheers and applause from the students, told them that the school was now in hot competition with other well-established schools throughout the country. They should therefore endeavor to pass well in both the practicals and theory in their final examinations.
Whiles charging the student body, staff and all to co-operate with the headmaster, Dr. Obeng to push the school forward, Hon. Ahi commended the headmaster for pursuing the development agenda of the school. He pointed out that though the headmaster was new in the school, he (MP) had detected so many developmental changes under his administration.
Dr. Obeng, on behalf of the school thanked the MP for his gesture and continuous support for the school. However, like the proverbial Oliver Twist, he stated that the school needed some more assistance from not only the MP, but also government and well-meaning Ghanaian, especially indigenes of the area.
The head of the Science Department of the school, Bright Aryee and his team tested the equipment and disclosed that they were of best quality. While thanking the MP for the items, they maintained that the delivery was not only timely but also God-given, since this year was the first time that the school was taking part in the practicals of the Sciences in the WASSCE.
