Sanitation Minister attends Israel WATEC 2019 conference in Israel

The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecelia Abena Dapaah, led a 27-Member delegation to the Water Technology and Environmental Control (WATEC) conference held at the capital city of Isreal, Tel Aviv. The four-days conference begun from 18th and ended on 21st November, 2019.

The focus of the conference was to educate participants on Water Stewardship and innovation – driving global leadership in the responsible planning management and protection of water.

The conference was under the theme; “Creating Energy Through Interaction ”

In a press statement signed by the Chief Manager at the Communication Department of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), Stanley Martey, revealed that the Minister participated in a number of seminars and workshops including meetings on the sideline with manufacturers and investors.

According to the statement throughout the conference, the Minister made brilliant and impressive presentations in promoting the Ghana government’s One District, One Factory (1D1F) policy and advocated for investments for the Clean Ghana Agenda to help solve the Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Environmental Challenges in the country.

The statement further indicated that, Cecelia Abena Dapaah also held high profile meetings with Israeli government delegation and experts like the Israeli Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Mr. Yuval Steinitz and his team.

Also, the Minister and her delegation visited a few places including the Mekorot sewage treatment plant in Shafdan and a number of manufacturing companies.

The Ghanaian delegation includes six State Officials, mainly technocrats from the departments and Agencies under Sanitation Ministry, Ghana water Company Limited, Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Water Resources Commission, Businessmen and Women from the Sanitation and Environment Sector, including Zoomlion, and Ghana’s Ambassador to Israel, H.E. (Mrs) Hannah Ama Nyarko and her Deputy.

The conference was organised in collaboration with the Israeli Ministry of Economy, Israel New Tech, Manufacturers Association and Israel Export Institute.
