Scandal: Chief Justice Anim-Yeboah fingered in a $5m Bribery Allegation

The name of His Lordship Chief Justice Anin-Yeboah has been trending online over an alleged demand for US$5Million bribe in a pending court case at the Supreme Court of Ghana.

The genesis of the matter was when one Ogyeedom Obranu Kwasi Atta VI, a Chief, reported his lawyer, AKwasi Afrifa Esq. to the General Legal Council (GLC) for misconduct.

In a petition to the GLC, the Chief said the lawyer was withholding some amount of money due him which the lawyer has refused to refund totaling US$70,000.

However, in his response to the petition, the lawyer, Akwasi Afrifa while stating his side of the story made reference to some privileged exchanges he has had with the Chief, Ogyeedom Obranu.

In this privileged exchanges, the Chief had said he has offered a US$5million bribe to the Chief Justice Ani-Yeboah, part of which has already been paid.

According to the Chief, via the lawyer, some top political actors had taken him to meet the CJ where a demand for US$5million was made. He had reportedly made a first tranche payment of US$500,000.

The Chief was also required to change his counsel on the case and rather employ Lawyer Akoto Ampaw, from Akufo-Addo Prempeh Chambers.
