SEC announces final deadline for claims submission on revoked FMC licenses
To qualify for the voluntary bailout package provided by the Government, affected customers must have their claims validated and must have accepted the government’s sponsored bailout package.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued a reminder to customers of Fund Management Companies (FMCs) affected by the license revocations in November 2019.
The notice, dated Monday, June 24, 2024, highlights that the deadline for claims submission for validation is Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
This directive is in line with sections 3(i)(m) and 208(c) of the Securities Industry Act, 2016 (Act 929), as amended.
The notice serves as a final call to action for affected customers to take the necessary steps to retrieve their locked-up funds.
The notice also follows President Akufo-Addo’s recent instruction to the Finance Ministry to disburse GH¢1.5 billion to customers impacted by the financial sector clean-up exercise initiated by the Government in 2017.
Eligibility and Claims Submission
To qualify for the voluntary bailout package provided by the Government, affected customers must have their claims validated and must have accepted the government’s sponsored bailout package.
SEC has urged all eligible customers to submit their claims by the specified deadline to ensure they receive the financial assistance they are entitled to.
