The Servants of Charity (Opera Don Guanella) and the Department of Special Education, University of Ibadan, in Nigeria has honoured Disability Not Inability (DNI) Foundation with an Award of Excellence in Charity, in recognition of its unwavering devotion to the course of humanity and the wellbeing of persons with special needs and the vulnerable in society.
The award was presented during the Guanella Africa Summit and Public Lecture on Rehabilitation and Inclusive Basic Education, held under the theme; TAMING THE WILDERNESS OF HOPE: Mainstreaming Inclusive Basic Education Perspectives in the African Development Agenda at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, Nigeria on 8th May 2024.
Over the past 5 years, DNI Foundation has been supporting persons with diverse forms of disabilities in the areas of education, health and entrepreneurship to enable them to become self-dependent and positive contributors in their communities rather than liabilities people shun.
In her acceptance speech, the founder and Executive Director of DNI Foundation, Ms Esther Tibila expressed her profound gratitude to the hosts for organizing such a remarkable summit and for extending an invitation to them.
She also thanked the Board of Trustees especially the Chairman, Professor Peter Atadja for sponsoring the delegates’ trip to Nigeria and the dedicated team at DNI Foundation for their tireless efforts and commitment to the organization’s vision.
