At least seven people were killed and five others injured after a cart pulled by two cows was knocked by a car Sunday in Tanzania’s capital region of Dodoma, according to police sources.
Martin Otieno, the Dodoma regional police commander, said a cart being pulled by two cows and carrying 12 people was knocked by a state-run vehicle, killing seven people.
“Six of them died on the spot and one died on arrival to the hospital,” said Otieno.
According to him, the cart was ferrying the 12 people to collect clay for making cooking pots. The two cows that were pulling the cart were also killed when the accident happened at Lugola village in Chamwino district in the Dodoma region.
Otieno said police were holding the driver of the car for further investigations.
