Somè Traditional Area kicks against closure of Markets

Somè Traditional Authority in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region has kicked against the  closure of their markets as a move to stopping the spread of the Global Coronavirus pandemic.

A press released signed by the Makotsor of Somè, Torgbiga Adamah III, explained that the Markets would not be closed down completely instead they will be decongested.

They objected to the decision after a statement from the Municipal Chief Executive of the Area, issued a directive for “the two main markets: Hedzranawo (Denu) and Agbozume to revert to their former modus of operation”.

“This means that some sections of the markets will be relocated to the empty spaces around the markets.

The relocation exercise will be monitored by two committees one for Hedzranawo and one for Agbozume”.

Furthermore, all sellers and buyers in the markets are to wear face masks and observe other specified protocols especially the ones concerning the washing of hands and social distancing, Torgbiga added.
