The founder of Wildaland Festival, Baba Sadiq, shares why the music festival was postponed this year on TV3 New Day. Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu revealed that some key investors responded quite late to their call to create the Wildaland magic.

Explaining the situation further, Baba Sadiq disclosed that he had to make the ultimate decision and call off the event. He revealed the enormous work and resources needed to pull off the festival in the forest reserve.

“It’s a forest reserve, and it takes time to put things together. We need to take electricity there. That’s like powering almost an entire village. You need to prepare the ground. You need to do a whole lot. You need at least two months’ access to the grounds.”

Baba Sadiq also disclosed all amenities that allow them to pull off a safe musical experience for their patrons. He mentioned the need for health personnel, the technical and housing of about 4,00 people on the festival grounds.

“We have a health team of about 50. We’ve got three doctors n site and a number of nurses and health assistants on there. We’ve got a technical team that will put together everything. And there’s an accommodation village that takes in almost about 4,000 people.”

Earlier this month, organisers released a statement to confirm the cancellation of Wildaland Festival 2022 due to circumstances beyond their control. They promised to refund all who had purchased the early bird tickets.
