State Drops All Charges Against Former COCOBOD CEO Dr. Opuni and Businessman Seidu Agongo

The prosecution handling the high-profile trial of Dr. Stephen Kwabena Opuni, former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), and businessman Seidu Agongo has officially dropped all charges against the duo.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, State Attorney Enam Mensah informed the High Court that the Attorney General had directed the withdrawal of the 27 charges, which included defrauding by false pretences, willfully causing financial loss to the state, corruption by public officers, and violations of the Public Procurement Act. The prosecution filed a notice of withdrawal pursuant to Section 59 of the Criminal Procedure Code, Act 30.
