President Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians to turn out in the numbers to vote in Monday’s Presidential and Parliamentary polls.
According to him, voting empowers the citizenry to be part of the decision making of the country.
“Using your God-given and constitutional rights costs nothing, but staying home can come at a very steep price. So, I entreat all eligible voters to turn out in your numbers, cast your vote, and, thereby, exercise your sovereign right to the making of government in the country,” the President said in an address on the eve of the polls..

He also noted adequate security measures have been taken to ensure smooth voting.
“The security services have assured me that they have made adequate preparations to protect the sanctity of the process.
“They have assured me of their determination to carry out their duties without fear or favour. Improper behaviour by any citizen, no matter their political colour, will not be tolerated, and I am encouraged by the assurance by the Inspector General of Police, as well as by the heads of the other security services, that they will be even-handed in their response to issues”.
More than 17 million voters are expected to take part in the December 7 election, representing 2 million more voters than in the last election.
The EC has said 33,000 polling stations have been dedicated for the presidential and parliamentary polls.
The race will largely be between the incumbent NPP led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the opposition NDC, led by John Dramani Mahama although there are 10 other presidential candidates.
