The opposition National Democratic Congress in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern region has bemoaned the slow pace of development in the municipality. They blamed it on an alleged rift between the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and his Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The NDC says it has gathered information that Hon. Kwadjo Asante, popularly known as ‘Oboafo’, the once darling boy of Suhum NPP, is no more in good terms with his MCE, Hon. Margaret Darko and this is what is causing the underdevelopmment of the Suhum area.

Suhum NDC revealed this at a press conference addressed by the constituency communication officer, Daniel Chanor, who reaffirmed this in a telephone interview with Nana Kwabena Addo of Radio FM.

Daniel Chanor lamented the state of deplorable roads in the municipality as well as abandonment of projects inherited from the John Dramani Mahama administration.

He also alleged that the rift is as a result of Hon. Margaret Darko endorsing and preparing another candidate to unseat Hon. Kwadjo Asante in the next election.

He added that it would be of a great disservice to the municipality as a patriotic citizen to rate the performance of the MP, MCE and the NPP government beyond 5%.

“These people have failed us. They have virtually done nothing in the municipality. No good roads, no better projects and they have abandoned projects that were started under former president John Dramani Mahama. I will be doing a great disservice to them if I rate them above 5%. They have failed. They are not performing because of the grudge between our MP and MCE. They are at loggerheads so if the MP is at point A, the MCE is at point B. It is not helping us,” he stated.

The communication officer finally revealed that the MCE is preparing one Protozoa, a presidential staffer to unseat Hon. Kwadjo Asante.
