Suhum MP to contest 2024 election as independent candidate
He made his declaration to contest the poll after launching a campaign through a health walk on Sunday, September 01, 2024, putting an end to the speculations in the constituency.
The Member of Parliament for Suhum in the Eastern Region, Kwadwo Asante, popularly known as Boafo, has declared his intentions to contest the seat in the 2024 elections as independent.
The lawmaker lost the party’s ticket in the upcoming election to Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa, during its parliamentary primary.
He says many in the constituency have called on him to contest as independent following his defeat in the primary.
Although some top party officials including flag bearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, have persuaded him to rescind his decision, the MP is insistent.

Addressing a large gathering of supporters after a health walk at the Suhum Amponsah Market, he stated that he was heeding the call of his constituents to continue his developmental work in the area.
