Support my Govt – President rallies Chiefs and people of G. Accra
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appealed to the chiefs and people of the various communities he visited in Accra yesterday, to support his government to transform the country.
According to him, the programmes and policies being implemented by his government are targeted at the speedy transformation of the socio-economic fortunes of Ghana for prosperity of the people.
He assured that his government would continue to implement programmes and policies that would help transform the lives of the citizenry.
The President made the call on the first day of his three day tour of some communities in the Greater Accra Region.
The tour forms part of a scheduled programme to familiarise himself with developments in the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the region.
Ga South
He began the tour with a Durbar of chiefs and people of the Ga South at Weija Gbawe in the Bortianor/ Ngleshie/ Amanfrom constituency.
Chiefs appeal for solution to boundary dispute with Central Region
The traditional chiefs in the area appealed to the President to intervene and help settle the long standing boundary dispute that has existed between the Greater Accra and Central Regions.
The Ngleshie Amanfrom Mantse , Nii Kwarshie Gborlor IV who made the appeal told the President the dispute has become a major challenge to land administration and title registration in the catchment area.
He explained that to the best of his knowledge, there has been an existing boundary between the two regions in the past that has unfortunately been ignored.
The Amanfrom Mantse appealed to the President to ensure that the boundary that existed between the Greater Accra and Central regions in the past is respected for peace to prevail.
“I am confident that you and your assigns will help bring a closure to this all important matter,” he said.
Nii Gborlor described the President’s visit to the area as “a show of love to the Ga State”, commending the government for the development taking place across the nation.
He also lauded the government for taking the bold step to clean the banking sector, saying the move had ensured a sound financial sector in the country.
“In the past, inflation was on the rise, but because of the good policies implemented by the president, he has been able to arrest the situation,” he stated.
He also appealed to the President to help fix the bad road network in the area.
President Akufo-Addo in response indicated that he had taken notice of the request by the Chiefs and people of the area to bring resolution to the boundary dispute between the two regions.
He assured them that he would initiate the process to have the matter resolved, saying, “my administration will take a serious look at it and resolve the issue. It is an issue that has prevailed for a long time and it needs to be resolved.”
The President further appealed to the people to continue to support his government for more development.
Ga West and Ga Central
The President later attended a durbar of chiefs and people of Ga West, and Ga Central at Nsakena.
Nii Amasa Oseiku Oseik, Amasaman Mantse lauded the government for its flagship programmes such as the One District, One Factory initiative, Free Senior High Scholl (SHS) and the restoration of teacher and nurses training allowances.
He commended the President for showing leadership which is helping transform the economic fortunes of the country.
He however decried the poor state of the roads in the area and appealed to the President to help fix them.
Minister of Roads and Highways Kwesi Amoako Atta assured the chiefs that they would see some major works on the roads in the area by the first quarter of next year.
Pledge to address challenges
President Nana Addo on his part assured the people that his government would work hard to address the challenges in the area.
Equitable distribution of resources
He noted that policies have been put in place by his government to ensure an equitable distribution of resources to every part of the country.
He entreated the chiefs and people to solidly support government in its programmes to ensure a speedy transformation of the socio-economic fortunes of the country.
Pokuase Interchange
The President later inspected construction work on the Pokuase Interchange.
The interchange is a $60 million 4-tier project which forms part of the Ministry of Roads and Highways “Accra Urban Transport Projects” (AUTP) funded by the African Development Bank.
The Project is expected to be completed in October 2020. It is currently 50% complete.
Housing project commissioned
The President also inspected the Dome road after which he proceeded to inspect and commissioned the State Housing Company Cluster of Houses at Frafraha in Adenta.
The commissioned housing project consists of 10 units’ 4-bedroom houses. The second phase of the project is expected to see the construction of 20 4-bedroom houses.

The President also commissioned the newly constructed 3- storey Court Complex at Frafraha Rowi.
Commissioning of the Madina Zongo Astro Turf
He President ended day one of the tour with the Commissioning of the Madina Zongo Astro Turf.
