Survey shows NDC Members want a different leader for 2024, not Mahama; Bawumia projected to lead NPP

A survey conducted by European Public Policy Institute (EPPI) has revealed that most Ghanaians would prefer a different person to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into election 2024 instead of John Dramani Mahama.

The survey with a sample size of 1,258 eligible voters revealed that changing John Dramani Mahama will help the NDC win the 2024 election even though the ruling party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is working at ensuring that they break the eight cycle.

In the yet-to-be released survey, members of the NDC who were interviewed believe that Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin must take up the flagbearer position in the opposition party. They also prefer minority leader Haruna Iddrisu to partner him as the Running Mate.

John Dramani Mahama has led the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on three occasions and has won in just one of them.

It is not clear if the former President of Ghana will be willing to lead the NDC in the 2024 election which is expected be one of the historical elections for the country.

According to the survey, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is way ahead of his closest contender Alan Kyerematen in the race for who leads the NPP in 2024.

Both have been highly tipped to run a tight contest towards the party’s presidential primaries in 2023.
