Suspected killer of KNUST student remanded in prison custody for 2 weeks

The suspect appeared before the Kumasi Circuit Court 2 on Friday, February 28, where he was remanded.

The suspect in the alleged murder of a final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been remanded in prison custody for two weeks.

Joana Yabane was found unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory of the university campus in the early hours of Thursday.

Police later arrested Daniel Tuffour as suspect following crime scene investigation.

The suspect appeared before the Kumasi Circuit Court 2 on Friday, February 28, where he was remanded.

The alleged murder of Joana has sparked uproar among students of KNUST and the general public.

In a statement by the university management, the institution confirmed that Miss Yabani’s lifeless body was discovered near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre at approximately 5:00 a.m. on February 27, 2025.

It has assured students of their safety due to several enhanced security measures that are already in place.
