Talk about SEX during courtship

Learn to put your emotions under control while discussing sex. Do not fantasise or imagine nasty things that you would love to do with your partner. Let your words and thoughts be subject to God’s word.

Someone told me sometime ago that they were not allowed by their denomination to talk about sex during courtship.

It has really affected marriages as they are now shy to talk about sex even in marriage irrespective of how they feel.

Some cultures and religions have caused more harm than good by denying people not to talk about sex.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. – Philippians 4:8

God created sex and He told us how to go about it. God takes delight in sex in marriage.

Talking about sex is different from doing it. However, in as much as you are to discuss sex, it shouldn’t be flirting or sex chatting. It should be addressed during courtship when you know you are ready to get married.

Here are a few areas to discuss.

• Your sexuality.

• Sexual libido

• Your views on premarital and extramarital sex

• Sexual Orientation.

• Your view on sex in marriage, should it be often or not?

You need to consider where you talk on sexual matters, it is advisable not to be done in secret but in an open place, this is to guide you against sexual sin.

Learn to put your emotions under control while discussing sex. Do not fantasise or imagine nasty things that you would love to do with your partner. Let your words and thoughts be subject to God’s word.
