Tamale: Angry youth seize NPP chair’s vehicle for failing to give them jobs

Some incensed youth of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the Tamale Central constituency of the Northern Region have grounded the Constituency Chairman’s vehicle.

According to the aggrieved youth, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim has failed to fulfill his promise of finding them jobs as he assured ahead of the 2016 general elections.

The youth groups made up of ward executives have deflated the tyres of the pickup of the Ford vehicle and have kept it.

Spokesperson of the group, Shira Majeed, in an interview with journalists stated that that they were promised by the executive that if they worked hard to bring the party to power their efforts will be rewarded with good jobs.

But sadly, three years after President Akufo Addo assumed power, they still remain jobless.

He said they decided to teach the executive a lesson because they abandoned them right after the election and are now visiting the area just because another election is eleven months away.

The Tamale Central NPP chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim in an interview confirmed that the young men had seized the car.

He disclosed that the constituency executives had planned to meet all youth groups in the area to respond to allegation of they seizing contracts meant for them [youth] which was untrue.

Alhaji Mohammed said, at the meeting with the ‘Zogbleli’ group on Friday night to engage them to settle matters, tempers started flaring and he suddenly heard a loud noise.

Upon inquiry of what was happening, he was informed that the youth have started deflating his vehicle tyres. They also beat the constituency’s deputy Nasara Coordinator.

Alhaji Mohammed said, he kept his calm as the youth were angry.

The party Chairman said he will not seek legal redress because it’s a party matter and is hopeful the issue with be settled using the party structures.
