“Teaching is not a Job to do to become a Millionaire; Do other Side Jobs” – Nana Addo tells Teachers
An audio currently in circulation on social media purported to be the voice of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has advised professional teachers to look for other jobs rather than depend on the teaching profession for a living since no one can become a millionaire just by teaching.
Thou it is unsure where and where the statement was made, it stated explicitly that teaching is not a job for one to do to become a millionaire.
The President noted that teaching is a sacrificial job which one can do and expect to become a millionaire.
He advised that, one must do other side jobs to help cushion their salaries if they want to survive in the teaching field for long. This however was after the President admitted of the poor conditions of service of teachers.
According to him, though teachers do not desire such poor conditions of service, teaching is just a contribution job for the welfare of the society.
He thanked teachers for their contribution to the nation and also for their service.
It is believed that the President made this remarks when during a meeting with the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) ahead of the Association’s anniversary.
