Techiman Queen Mothers Association donates essential equipment to local hospital
“The reason behind the donation is that, as women, our children and grandchildren frequently visit the hospital and they relay the challenges they face at the hospital to us.
The Techiman Queen Mothers Association has made a generous donation of hospital equipment to the Techiman Abrafi Children and Women Hospital.
The donation, which includes beds, liquid soap, strings, and other vital equipment, aims to enhance the healthcare services provided to the people of Techiman.
Speaking to the media after the donation, Nana Yeboah Asuma Adontenhemaa, the acting president of the association, explained that the hospital was named after the Omanhemaa of Techiman traditional area, Nana Abrafi Koto.
“The reason behind the donation is that, as women, our children and grandchildren frequently visit the hospital and they relay the challenges they face at the hospital to us.
“We as Queen Mothers realized that, we have to take an action to safe the image of the hospital because it is named after our Paramount Queen Mother and therefore it is our responsibility to safeguard it.
“We paid a visit to the management of the hospital and ascertain at first hand the challenges facing the hospital, after the visit to the hospital, we met as an association and discussed how best we can help to redeem the image of the Abrefi women and Children Hospital.” She revealed.
The donation is expected to significantly improve the healthcare services provided to the people of Techiman, particularly women and children. The hospital authority has been urged to ensure proper maintenance of the equipment to prolong their lifespan.
She emphasized the importance of maintaining the equipment to ensure they last longer and benefit the community.
“Africans lacks maintenance culture but notwithstanding, we will plead with the authorities of the hospital to take very good care of the things we have donated to them especially the hospital beds and other materials that are reusable.” She said
Dr. Fadle M. Quanson, the medical superintendent of the Abrefi Women and Children Hospital, expressed his gratitude to the queen mothers for their kindness.
He noted that this was the first time the hospital had received such a donation from individuals or groups, and it came at a time when the hospital was in dire need of these essential items.
“We are very grateful to our queen mothers, this is the first time I have witness such a donation since I assume duty as the medical superintendent of the Abrefi Women and Children Hospital.
“They have touched all aspect of our needs, it includes hospital beds, toiletries, syringes, stethoscope, including many others. We are grateful and pray for them to continue to come to our aid.” He said
Dr. Fadle continued, “We promise to take good care of all the reusable equipment for the better of the hospital and our patients
