Tema Mayor Supports PWDs: Donates items worth GHC 119,785
Mayor of Tema, Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, has donated items worth Ghc 119,785 to some Persons living with disability within the municipality in a charity event on Friday.
According to the Major, the activity is part of the government’s efforts to ensure that “every Ghanaian is empowered irrespective of their circumstances”.
He noted that, the Tema Metropolitan Assembly has over the years supported disabled persons to be self-sufficient and contribute to the country’s development.
This year however, he pointed out that, the TMA will not donate cash, rather, it will “invest in materials and equipments” to help increase the productivity of persons with disabilities.
The persons that received the support from the TMA, applied for their specific needs and were screened accordingly.
According to the Mayor, 52 persons with disability received items from the municipal assembly worth Ghc 119,785.00. Out of the said amount, the greater percentage was allocated to economically support beneficiaries, the rest took care of the educational and health needs of some persons with disabilities.
Mr Anang-La advised the beneficiaries to put the support they are receiving into good use, in order to derive the full benefits of the intervention as intended.
